A note on hype, honestly
AI has a marketing problem. Every software vendor now claims to be "AI-powered," which makes it harder for organisations to distinguish genuine machine-learning capability from a rebranded rules engine. We spend a surprising amount of our advisory time telling clients what not to build.
Some problems are better solved with a well-designed spreadsheet. Others need a proper statistical model but not a neural network. When deep learning is genuinely the right tool, we say so and explain why in language your finance director can follow. When it is overkill, we say that too.
"They told us our chatbot idea was premature and suggested a simpler retrieval system first. Saved us about £60k and delivered faster." — Operations lead, healthcare SaaS company, Leeds
That honesty is why clients come back. We would rather lose a sale today than build something that gathers dust in six months.
